TELERRADIOLOGIA

Sending medical reports remotely by a radiologist is a service known as Teleradiology.

It is an innovative practice to help Diagnostic Imaging Centers in hospitals and clinics.

This ends up significantly increasing productivity and agility for customers, in addition to reducing expenses, as you can see on this page.

WHAT IS TELERRADIOLOGY?

Teleradiology is a specialty of telemedicine that consists mainly of the remote production of imaging exam reports by specialist radiologists.

That is, it allows radiologists to carry out reports remotely in the evaluation and interpretation of medical exams.

With it, hospitals and clinics can access highly specialized radiologists without geographical obstacles. Contributing to the issuance of remote reports and medical advice for carrying out exams.

In other words, access to professionals to interpret exams with the same ease as having a radiologist working locally.

The training of a radiologist to work remotely is no different: 6 years of academic training in Medicine and 3 years of medical residency in Radiology and Imaging Diagnosis (known as R1, R2 and R3).

In addition to this trajectory, some radiologists specialize even further, for 1 or more years, becoming specialists in certain sub-areas of radiology, upon completing R4/R5.

The subspecialties in radiology and a radiologist can be: neuroradiology, thoracic, breast, cardiac, abdominal, internal medicine, musculoskeletal, oncology, pediatric, head and neck and interventional radiology.

In other words, to prepare a heart resonance report, a specialist in cardiac radiology is better suited than a radiologist without the same subspecialization.

Therefore, the best services in this specialty have professionals who are subspecialists in their areas to issue reports. This ensures greater assertiveness in diagnosis and greater safety in patient treatment for the diagnostic center.

REGULATION OF TELERADIOLOGY

Resolution No. 2,107/2014 of the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) regulates and guides both the companies that provide the services and the diagnostic centers that use them. Therefore, teleradiology has its own regulations for its exercise, as does any service provided in the health sector.

Teleradiology often does not replace the need to have radiologists working in person in diagnostic centers, such as ultrasound, an example of the need for a radiologist in person or to monitor contrasts, among other services in addition to teleradiology that One Laudos provides. .

In this way, teleradiology complements radiological services and should be identified as a partner in optimizing the care provided.

The objective is to improve the quality of patient care, through the assistance of specialized radiologists.

The patient must authorize the sending and use of images and information in teleradiology through a free consent form. As for clinical data, they must be sent with the exams and must be accompanied by the patient's clinical information, such as the medical request filled out by the requesting doctor or in pre-exam questionnaires administered by the imaging department team where the exam is performed.

The radiologist must be registered with the CRM in the state in which he works, and not necessarily in the place where the exam was carried out.
